1XAnime: anime with an Indian heart, from Doraemon and Shin-chan to Naruto, Demon Slayer and Solo Leveling
1XAnime grew up as an anime blog for Indian fans. Its pages carried a bright, friendly design, a cream background, rounded cards and cheerful yellow badges, and its main list was a watchlist of anime with Hindi audio, many in five languages at once: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English and Japanese. 1XAnime returns with that same warm design and a clear purpose. It is a guide to the anime that fans in India grew up with and love today, from the afternoon classics of Doraemon, Shin-chan and Ninja Hattori to the great sagas of Dragon Ball, Naruto and One Piece and the newest hits such as Jujutsu Kaisen, Blue Lock, Frieren and Solo Leveling. Every title has its story, its seasons and episodes, and a Watch now button that opens it on the official services in your country.
Anime has a special place in India. A whole generation met it through Hindi dubs on children's television channels in the 2000s, and a new generation now watches the latest seasons within days of Japan, often with a choice of Indian languages. 1XAnime celebrates both generations in one place.
The 1XAnime design
The archived capture of www.1xanime.org from January 2025 preserves the whole page with its theme settings written inline, and those settings were measured one by one. The page used a warm cream background, a slightly cooler off-white for panels, a deep navy for text with a softer navy for secondary lines, and a soft butter yellow for buttons and badges, always with near-black text on top. A pale blue notice bar with deep blue text ran across the top of the content, and links used a bright electric blue. The typeface was Noto Sans at a comfortable fourteen pixels, the header stood sixty-five pixels tall, and a slim icon rail seventy-five pixels wide ran down the left side of the page.
This 1XAnime keeps all of those values and the layout that went with them: the rail, the notice bar, the Top Airing card, the three-column grid of rounded cards with a round bookmark button and a yellow badge in the corner, and the sidebar with coloured call-to-action boxes above a numbered popular list. The logo is original: a butter-yellow rounded square with a navy X, followed by the 1XAnime name.
The header and rail
The header is calm and uncluttered. On the left sits a menu button and the 1XAnime logo, which always leads home. Beside it is a borderless search box with a magnifying glass, marked Search Anime, which gains a soft grey background as soon as you start typing. On the right, a yellow My List pill opens your saved anime. Down the left edge of every page runs the icon rail, a narrow column of small rounded icons with short labels: Home, Series, Films, Kids classics, New, Top rated, A-Z and Help. The page you are on lights up in butter yellow. On a phone the rail folds away and the menu button opens a panel with the search box and every section.
The notice bar
Just under the header runs a pale blue notice bar with a single friendly sentence about what 1XAnime offers: stories, seasons, episodes and ratings for the anime India loves, and a Watch now button that finds each title on the official services. It carries the same pale blue and deep blue as the original notice, which told visitors the site was a one-stop source for anime information.
Top Airing
The home page opens with the Top Airing card, a wide image on the left and the title and story on the right, with a yellow Read more pill. Today it features Solo Leveling, the story of Sung Jinwoo, the weakest hunter in a world of monsters, who gains a mysterious power to grow stronger. Beside it in rotation are Dragon Ball DAIMA, Doraemon, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Your Name. and Naruto, a mix of old favourites and new stars that sums up what 1XAnime is about.
The card grid
Below the Top Airing card, the home page opens into grids of rounded cards, three to a row on a laptop, two on a tablet and one on a phone. Each card has a wide image with gently rounded corners, a round yellow bookmark button and a yellow badge in the top corner. For a series that is still airing, the badge shows the number of episodes so far, such as EP 25. For a finished series it reads Completed, and for a film it reads Movie, just like the badges on the original watchlist. Below the image comes the title in navy and three lines of story in a softer navy, so you can judge each anime at a glance.
The grids follow one after another: the Anime watchlist of popular series from the last fifteen years, New releases from 2023 onward, Kids classics, Films, Sports, Studio Ghibli, Long-running series and Top rated. Each has a View all link on the right of its heading.
The title page
Every series and film on 1XAnime has its own page, with the poster, the title, the year, the studio, the genres and the rating, followed by the story and the voice cast. Series pages add every season and episode with its air date, so you can follow long runs like One Piece or Detective Conan with ease. Next to the poster sits the country selector and the Watch now button, which opens the title on JustWatch for the country you choose. The how to watch guide walks through each step.
Hindi, Tamil and Telugu audio
For many fans in India, the joy of anime is hearing it in their own language. Official Hindi dubs have been part of Indian anime culture since the days of children's channels, and in recent years anime services have released a large number of series and films in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, often at the same time as the Japanese episodes arrive with subtitles. The original 1XAnime watchlist highlighted exactly these multi-audio releases, from Dr. STONE and Dragon Ball DAIMA to TRILLION GAME, 365 Days to the Wedding and Good Bye, Dragon Life.
Audio options depend on the service and the country, and they change as new dubs arrive. When you press Watch now, JustWatch lists the services that carry each title where you live, and the service's own page shows every audio track. Inside the player, the speech-bubble or audio menu lets you switch between Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English and Japanese wherever they are offered. The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu audio guide explains the details.
Kids classics
For millions of Indian viewers, anime began with the afternoon cartoons of childhood. Doraemon, the robot cat from the twenty-second century who helps the dreamy schoolboy Nobita with gadgets from his pocket, became one of the most loved characters in the country. Shin Chan, the cheeky five-year-old whose mischief drives his parents to despair, was just as popular, and Ninja Hattori-kun, the young ninja who lives with an ordinary boy and his family, filled many afternoons too. Kiteretsu Daihyakka follows a boy inventor and his samurai robot Korosuke, and SUPERKID, known to Indian children as Perman, follows a boy given a superhero costume by a friendly alien.
Doraemon also stars in films that Indian families love: Stand by Me Doraemon and Stand by Me Doraemon 2 retell his story in beautiful computer animation, Doraemon: Nobita's Dinosaur follows Nobita and a baby dinosaur, and Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021 sends the friends on a space adventure. Crayon Shin-chan: Honeymoon Hurricane ~The Lost Hiroshi~ takes the Nohara family on a wild trip to Australia.
Battles, cards and spinning tops
Playground crazes came from anime too. Pokémon follows Ash and Pikachu across many regions in more than a thousand episodes, and Pokémon Horizons begins a new journey with Liko and Roy. Pokémon: The First Movie and Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! bring the adventure to the big screen. Beyblade made spinning-top battles a craze across schools, and Beyblade: Metal Fight Beyblade, Beyblade Burst and Beyblade X carried it to new generations. Bakugan Battle Brawlers, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and Digimon: Digital Monsters are much-loved classics from the same era. The kids classics guide gathers them all.
Stories from India
A few anime tell Indian stories, and they hold a special place on 1XAnime. Ramayana : The Legend of Prince Rama is an Indo-Japanese animated film of the great epic, following Rama's exile, the abduction of Sita and the battle against Ravana, made with Japanese animators and Indian artists and dubbed into Hindi and English. The Jungle Book: The Adventures of Mowgli is a Japanese series based on Rudyard Kipling's stories of the boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle, and its Hindi version, with its famous title song, became a childhood memory for millions. Suraj: The Rising Star is a cricket anime made for Indian television, following a boy from Mumbai who dreams of playing for his country.
Dragon Ball, Naruto and One Piece
Three great sagas shaped anime for fans everywhere, and India fell under their spell as strongly as anywhere. Dragon Ball follows the young Goku on his quest for the seven magical Dragon Balls, and Dragon Ball Z follows him as a grown-up hero defending the Earth against ever stronger enemies, from Frieza to Majin Buu. Dragon Ball Z Kai is a tighter remastered version, Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super continue the story, and Dragon Ball DAIMA shrinks Goku and his friends into children for a trip to the Demon Realm, the last series shaped by the creator Akira Toriyama. The films Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F', Dragon Ball Super: Broly and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero bring the battles to cinemas.
Naruto follows a lonely young ninja who dreams of becoming the leader of his village, and Naruto Shippūden follows him as a young man in five hundred episodes of friendship, rivalry and war. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations follows his son, and the films The Last: Naruto the Movie and Boruto: Naruto the Movie complete the picture. One Piece follows Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew in search of the legendary treasure, in more than a thousand episodes that are still going, and its films One Piece Film: Z, One Piece Film: GOLD and One Piece: Stampede are big-screen festivals of adventure.
Today's shonen hits
Shonen anime, the action stories written for young readers, are the biggest hits of today. JUJUTSU KAISEN follows Yuji Itadori into a hidden world of curses and sorcerers, and the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tells the story of Yuta Okkotsu before the series begins. The Demon Slayer series follows Tanjiro, a kind-hearted boy who becomes a demon hunter to save his sister, with some of the most beautiful animation of recent years. Attack on Titan follows humanity's last city behind towering walls, My Hero Academia follows Izuku Midoriya, a boy who dreams of becoming a hero in a world where most people have superpowers, and Black Clover follows Asta, an orphan with a rare anti-magic sword, on his way to becoming Wizard King.
Solo Leveling became one of the biggest anime of 2024, with its story of a weak hunter who levels up like a video game hero, and the film Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- brought it to cinemas. Hunter x Hunter, Bleach, One-Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, Tokyo Revengers, SAKAMOTO DAYS, WIND BREAKER and Gachiakuta complete the shelf. The shonen guide picks the best starting points.
Anime films
Anime films have found a big audience in India, and a trip to the cinema for a new Japanese film has become a real event. Makoto Shinkai's films are the best-known example. Your Name. follows two teenagers, a girl in a mountain town and a boy in Tokyo, who mysteriously swap bodies, and it became one of the most successful anime films ever made. Weathering with You follows a runaway boy and a girl who can make the sun shine, Suzume follows a schoolgirl who travels across Japan closing magical doors, and 5 Centimeters per Second is a tender story of first love told in three chapters.
Mamoru Hosoda's films are just as moving: Wolf Children follows a young mother raising two children who can turn into wolves, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time follows a schoolgirl who learns to jump back in time, Summer Wars mixes a family reunion with a crisis in a virtual world, and Mirai follows a small boy who meets his baby sister from the future. A Silent Voice: The Movie is a powerful story of a former bully and the deaf girl he once hurt, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas is a bittersweet story of friendship, Josee, the Tiger and the Fish is a warm romance, and Look Back is a short, beautiful film about two girls who draw manga together. The anime films guide has more.
Studio Ghibli
Studio Ghibli needs little introduction. Spirited Away follows ten-year-old Chihiro through a bathhouse of spirits, and it won the Oscar for best animated feature. My Neighbor Totoro follows two sisters who meet a gentle forest spirit in the Japanese countryside. Princess Mononoke is an epic of forest gods and humans, Howl's Moving Castle follows a young hatter turned into an old woman by a curse, Kiki's Delivery Service follows a young witch who starts a flying delivery service, and Ponyo follows a goldfish girl who wants to become human. The Boy and the Heron, Hayao Miyazaki's most recent film, won a second Oscar for the studio.
Anime classics
Some anime are landmarks of the art form. Akira set the standard for animated science fiction with its vision of Neo-Tokyo, and Ghost in the Shell shaped how a generation imagined the future of technology. Cowboy Bebop follows a crew of bounty hunters through space to a jazz soundtrack, Death Note follows a student who finds a notebook with a deadly power and the detective who hunts him, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood follows two brothers searching for a way to restore their bodies after a failed experiment. Monster follows a surgeon in Germany who saves a boy who grows into a killer, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion follows a prince leading a rebellion, and Steins;Gate follows friends who accidentally build a time machine from a microwave.
Rurouni Kenshin follows a wandering swordsman in the Meiji era who has vowed to protect life, and it has two versions on 1XAnime: Rurouni Kenshin, the 1996 series that many Indian fans first saw, and Rurouni Kenshin, the 2023 remake. InuYasha follows a schoolgirl who falls through a well into feudal Japan, Slam Dunk follows a delinquent who becomes a basketball player, and Great Teacher Onizuka follows a former gang member who becomes an unforgettable teacher.
Sports anime
Sports anime are pure energy, and they have a big following in India. BLUE LOCK follows three hundred young strikers competing in a ruthless training project to find Japan's greatest goal scorer. Haikyu!! follows a small but fearless volleyball player and his rival turned partner, and the film HAIKYU!! The Dumpster Battle brings their great rivalry to a climax. Kuroko's Basketball follows a quiet player with a remarkable passing gift, and The First Slam Dunk retells the classic basketball story from the point of view of its point guard. Captain Tsubasa follows a boy whose whole life revolves around football.
For fighting sports, MEGALOBOX is a stylish boxing story set in a gritty future, while BAKI and KENGAN ASHURA are full-power martial arts sagas. For cricket fans, Suraj: The Rising Star is the one sports anime made with India in mind. The sports anime guide has the full line-up.
Fantasy worlds
Fantasy is one of the most popular kinds of anime today, and much of it follows heroes transported to other worlds. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime follows an office worker reborn as a friendly slime who builds a nation of monsters, The Rising of the Shield Hero follows a hero summoned with only a shield, and Overlord follows a gamer trapped in a fantasy game as its skeletal ruler. Sword Art Online follows players trapped inside a virtual reality game, and Shangri-La Frontier follows a gamer who loves the buggiest games of all.
Other fantasy anime tell quieter stories. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End follows an elf mage after her heroic quest has ended, learning to treasure the human friends whose lives pass quickly. Delicious in Dungeon follows adventurers who cook the monsters they meet, Ranking of Kings follows a small, gentle prince who dreams of becoming a great king, and Ascendance of a Bookworm follows a book lover reborn into a world where books are rare treasures. Wistoria: Wand and Sword follows a swordsman in a school of magic, and The Eminence in Shadow is a playful fantasy about a boy who dreams of being a mastermind.
Mystery and suspense
For puzzles and suspense, Detective Conan follows a teenage detective shrunk into a child's body, solving a case in almost every one of its twelve hundred episodes, and the film Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram pits him against the phantom thief Kid. ERASED follows a man who travels back to his childhood to prevent a tragedy, The Promised Neverland follows children who discover the secret of their orphanage, PLUTO is a gripping robot mystery from the creator of Monster, and Parasyte -the maxim- follows a boy sharing his body with an alien. Classroom of the Elite is a sharp school thriller full of mind games.
Heartfelt stories
Some anime are made to touch the heart. Your Lie in April follows a young pianist who finds music again through a free-spirited violinist, Violet Evergarden follows a former soldier who learns about love by writing letters for others, and March Comes In Like a Lion follows a teenage professional shogi player finding a new family. Orange follows a girl who receives letters from her future self, Fruits Basket follows a girl who discovers a family curse, and Natsume's Book of Friends follows a boy who returns names to the spirits. Barakamon follows a calligrapher who finds peace on a small island, and Laid-Back Camp follows friends who love winter camping.
Comedy and romance
Anime comedy is quick, clever and warm. SPY x FAMILY follows a spy, an assassin and a mind-reading little girl who pretend to be a family, each hiding a secret from the others, and it has charmed viewers of every age. Kaguya-sama: Love Is War follows two student council leaders too proud to confess their feelings, turning every conversation into a battle of wits. Horimiya follows two classmates who discover each other's hidden sides, Toradora! follows an unlikely pair who help each other with their crushes, and Tomo-chan Is a Girl! follows a sporty girl in love with her childhood friend.
MASHLE: MAGIC AND MUSCLES follows a boy who solves every magical problem with sheer muscle power, Assassination Classroom follows students training to defeat their octopus-like teacher, and Ya Boy Kongming! brings a legendary Chinese strategist to the nightclubs of modern Tokyo. BOCCHI THE ROCK! follows a shy guitarist joining her first band, Ouran High School Host Club is a sparkling school comedy, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead follows an overworked office worker who finally enjoys life during a zombie outbreak, and 365 Days to the Wedding follows two introverted colleagues who pretend to be engaged.
Science fiction
Science fiction anime look to the future with style. Dr. STONE follows a young genius who rebuilds civilisation with science after all of humanity is turned to stone, and its later seasons reached Indian fans with Hindi audio. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners follows a street kid in the neon city of Night City, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury follows a girl pilot at a school for mobile suit pilots, and Terminator Zero brings the famous film series to anime with a story set in Japan in 1997. Lycoris Recoil follows two secret agents who run a cosy café, and TRIGUN STAMPEDE follows a peace-loving gunslinger on a desert planet.
History and legend
Anime often travels into history. Vinland Saga follows a young Viking seeking revenge who slowly learns the value of peace, Dororo follows a young thief and a wandering swordsman in the Warring States period, and Record of Ragnarok stages a tournament between gods and history's greatest humans. Ranma1/2 is a loving remake of the classic martial arts comedy, and Blue Exorcist follows a boy who trains to fight demons.
New releases
The New collection gathers everything on 1XAnime from 2023 onward, so it is the place to look for the latest seasons. It includes the continuing adventures of Solo Leveling, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, The Apothecary Diaries, SAKAMOTO DAYS and Gachiakuta, as well as the multi-audio releases from the original watchlist such as TRILLION GAME, Good Bye, Dragon Life and ZENSHU, the story of a young animator who finds herself inside the film she loves. New seasons join the collection as they arrive.
Long-running series
Some anime are companions for years. The Long-running collection lists every series with a hundred episodes or more. Shin Chan and Doraemon each have well over a thousand episodes, Pokémon, Detective Conan and One Piece have passed a thousand too, and Naruto Shippūden, Bleach and Dragon Ball Z are long adventures to enjoy at your own pace. My List keeps track of the episode you reached, so you can pick up exactly where you stopped.
Top rated
The Top rated collection lists the highest-scoring anime in the catalogue, each with a strong score from hundreds of viewers or more. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, One Piece, Solo Leveling, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Attack on Titan sit near the top, with Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Haikyu!! and Spirited Away close behind. It is the quickest way to find an anime that almost everyone loves.
Subtitles, dubs and Japanese audio
Every anime fan has a favourite way to watch. Some prefer the original Japanese voices with subtitles, to hear the performances exactly as the voice actors recorded them. Others prefer a dub in their own language, so their eyes can stay on the action. Both are easy today. Most services offer English subtitles for almost every anime, many add Hindi subtitles, and a growing number of series have Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English dubs. New episodes of airing series often arrive with subtitles first and dubs a few weeks later. The subtitles guide shows how to switch languages in the popular apps.
How Watch now works
Each title page on 1XAnime carries a country selector and a Watch now button. Pick your country, press the button, and the title's page on JustWatch opens, listing the services that stream it where you live: subscriptions, free services with adverts and stores where you can buy or rent it. Choose one and the anime opens in that service's own player. Anime rights move between services often, especially in India, so 1XAnime checks JustWatch each time instead of keeping a fixed list.
The services behind the guide
In India, Crunchyroll carries a large share of the anime on 1XAnime, often with Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs. Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar carry many popular series and films, and children's channels such as Hungama and Sony YAY! have long been home to Doraemon, Shin-chan, Ninja Hattori and other classics. Outside India, the same services carry much of the catalogue, alongside regional anime platforms. The services guide gives a short tour.
Free anime
There are legal ways to watch some anime at zero cost. A few services offer selected series free with adverts in some countries, and several studios and distributors post official episodes, trailers and clips on their own video channels. When you press Watch now and choose your country, JustWatch shows any free options beside the paid ones. The free anime guide explains more.
Phones, tablets and TVs
1XAnime works in every modern browser, from a small phone to a big desktop screen, and you can pin it to your phone's home screen for one-tap access. The anime itself plays in each service's official app, from Google Play, the App Store, your games console or your smart TV's store. Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV and most smart TVs run the same apps, and casting sends a phone's picture to the big screen in seconds. The apps and devices guide covers each one.
Your watchlist
My List is your personal anime watchlist, a modern version of the watchlist that gave the original site its name. Tap Add to My List on any title page to save it, and on a season page tap the episode you reached, so the next visit starts in the right place. That is a huge help for One Piece, Detective Conan or Naruto Shippūden, where it is easy to lose count.
Everything in My List stays inside the browser you are using, so it is private and ready with zero accounts to create. To take it to a new phone, save it as a small file with Export and open that file with Import on the new device. The My List guide has step-by-step help, and the yellow pill in the header opens your list from anywhere.
Finding an anime
The search box in the header understands English titles, Japanese titles and character names, so Doraemon, Goku or Your Name will all lead to the right page. Press Enter for the full results page, where you can filter by type, genre and year. The icon rail opens each main collection in one tap, and the A-Z index lists every anime in alphabetical order. The finding an anime guide has more tips.
The official 1XAnime site
The official 1XAnime site is easy to recognise: a cream page, a butter-yellow logo with a navy X, a slim icon rail on the left, a pale blue notice bar, a Top Airing card, rounded cards with round yellow bookmark buttons and yellow episode badges, and a sidebar of green, navy and pink boxes above a numbered popular list. Every Watch now button leads to JustWatch and from there to the official services. Bookmark the home page or add it to your phone's home screen to keep the right address close. The official site guide describes it in detail.
Streaming safely
Good habits keep anime nights safe. Download service apps only from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's own store. Use a separate strong password for each service and turn on two-step sign-in where you can. Before paying for a subscription, look at the address bar and make sure it shows the real service. 1XAnime links only to JustWatch, and JustWatch links to the official services, so every click stays on trusted ground. The safety guide has a short checklist.
Is 1XAnime working?
When a page feels slow, try the simple test: open the home page, then any anime page. If both appear, 1XAnime is working well. A refresh, a cleared cache, a different browser or a different network solves most slow pages. Episodes play on the streaming services, so questions about playback go to each service's help centre. The site status guide lists the fixes in order.
Privacy
1XAnime is light on data. My List, your episode marks and your chosen country all stay in your own browser. Posters, backdrops and details come from TMDB, the community-built film and television database, and every Watch now link goes to JustWatch. The privacy page explains it in plain words.
How the catalogue is chosen
The 1XAnime catalogue is chosen by hand with Indian fans in mind. It gathers the television classics that Indian children grew up with, the great shonen sagas, today's biggest hits, the finest anime films, sports anime and gentle slice-of-life stories, from the 1980s to 2025, together with the Indo-Japanese anime that tell Indian stories. Many of the titles have been released with Hindi audio, and many with Tamil and Telugu too. The catalogue focuses on anime for a broad audience, so fan-service and adult-themed series are left to other guides, and every title on 1XAnime is one you can happily share with family and friends.
The story of 1XAnime
The name 1XAnime appeared on several addresses in the 2020s, and its best-remembered home, 1xanime.org, was a friendly anime blog built for Indian fans, with a Top Airing post, a watchlist of Hindi-dubbed and multi-audio anime, a numbered list of popular titles and a notice that called it a one-stop source for anime information. This new 1XAnime keeps its cream-and-yellow look and its love of Indian audio, and turns it into a complete guide, with every title linked to the services that carry it officially.
Your first visit
On your first visit, start where your memories are. If you grew up with Hindi cartoons, open Kids classics and say hello again to Doraemon, Shin Chan and Ninja Hattori-kun. If you want the newest excitement, open New and try Solo Leveling or SAKAMOTO DAYS. If you have a free evening, open Films and choose Your Name. or Spirited Away. Save anything that catches your eye to My List, and within a few weeks you will have a watchlist as long as the original site's.
Two generations of fans
Anime in India now spans two generations. Parents who once raced home from school for Doraemon, Pokémon and Beyblade now watch Dragon Ball DAIMA and SPY x FAMILY with their own children, and the older sagas such as Dragon Ball Z and Naruto have found new fans through the same dubs. 1XAnime is built for both: the classics sit beside the newest hits, and one Watch now button works for all of them.
Anime in Indian cinemas
In recent years anime films have become real events in Indian cinemas, with Hindi and English releases filling screens in big cities and small towns alike. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and Suzume drew large crowds, the Demon Slayer films became box-office hits, and fans turned up in costume for opening nights. Many of those films now stream at home, and their pages on 1XAnime show where.
An anime weekend
For a whole anime weekend, try this plan. On Friday night, start with something light and funny, such as the first episodes of SPY x FAMILY or Kaguya-sama: Love Is War. On Saturday, dive into a big adventure such as Solo Leveling or Attack on Titan, and end the evening with a film such as Jujutsu Kaisen 0. On Sunday afternoon, slow down with Frieren: Beyond Journey's End or Laid-Back Camp, and finish with a Studio Ghibli classic such as My Neighbor Totoro. Mark every episode in My List, and next weekend will plan itself.
Family anime nights
Anime makes wonderful family viewing. The Kids classics collection is full of gentle comedies and adventures, the Studio Ghibli films are loved by grandparents and toddlers alike, and the Stand by Me Doraemon films often move grown-ups to tears. For older children, Haikyu!!, Captain Tsubasa and Pokémon Horizons are full of teamwork and friendship. Ramayana : The Legend of Prince Rama is a beautiful way to share a great Indian epic with the whole family.
Fan culture in India
Indian anime fandom has grown into a lively community, with cosplay at Comic Con India events in cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, fan art shared across social media, and watch parties for big season finales. Many fans also discover the manga behind their favourite series, and a few start learning Japanese through the words they hear in every episode. 1XAnime is a quiet companion to all of that: a place to find the next series, follow every episode and share a link with a friend.
Great studios
Anime fans often follow the studios as closely as the stories. Toei Animation made Dragon Ball Z, One Piece and The First Slam Dunk, Pierrot made Naruto, Bleach and Black Clover, MAPPA made JUJUTSU KAISEN and Dororo, and Madhouse made Death Note, Hunter x Hunter, the first season of One-Punch Man and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End. Studio Ghibli made the films of Hayao Miyazaki, CoMix Wave Films made the films of Makoto Shinkai, and Studio Chizu made Mirai and Wolf Children with Mamoru Hosoda. Each title page lists its studios, so you can follow a favourite team from one anime to the next.
Short series for busy weeks
Some of the best anime can be finished in a weekend. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells its whole story in ten episodes, PLUTO and Terminator Zero in eight each, and ERASED, Barakamon and ZENSHU in twelve. Horimiya, Violet Evergarden, Orange and Lycoris Recoil each fit into thirteen episodes. The yellow badges on the cards show the episode counts, and the season pages list every episode, so you can see at a glance how much time a series will take.
Music in anime
Music runs through many of the anime on 1XAnime. Your Lie in April is a love letter to classical music, with the piano and the violin at its heart, and BOCCHI THE ROCK! follows a shy girl who pours her feelings into the guitar. The theme songs of anime are hits in their own right, and many fans in India know the opening songs of Naruto, Attack on Titan and JUJUTSU KAISEN by heart, in Japanese as well as in Hindi versions.
Friendship, teamwork and courage
Anime is famous for its big feelings and its simple values. Again and again the heroes win through friendship, hard work and courage: Naruto refuses to give up on his friends, Luffy's crew would sail anywhere for one another, and the volleyball team of Haikyu!! learns that every player matters. Stories such as A Silent Voice: The Movie and Ranking of Kings show kindness and understanding, while Vinland Saga shows a young man choosing peace over revenge. That is one reason families across India are happy to share anime with their children.
Great rivals
A great hero needs a great rival. Goku has Vegeta in Dragon Ball Z, Naruto has Sasuke in Naruto Shippūden, Light has the brilliant detective L in Death Note, and Hinata has Kageyama in Haikyu!!. Some rivals become the most loved characters in their series, and many fans in India argue happily over their favourites. The rivalry pages of these stories are some of the best episodes to revisit.
How anime seasons work
Anime follows a rhythm of its own. New series usually begin in one of four broadcast seasons in Japan, starting in January, April, July and October, and most run for about twelve or thirteen episodes, known to fans as a cour. Popular series return for more seasons, sometimes after a break of a year or two, while the long-running favourites such as One Piece and Detective Conan air almost every week of the year. That is why the season pages on 1XAnime list every episode with its air date, and why the yellow badge shows the running episode count for series that are still airing.
Other worlds
One of the most popular kinds of anime today is the isekai, a Japanese word for stories in which a hero is transported to another world. Some heroes wake up inside a game, as in Sword Art Online and Overlord, some are summoned by a kingdom in need, as in The Rising of the Shield Hero, and some are reborn as something unexpected, as in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. Solo Leveling borrows the game-like rules of the genre for a story set in our own world, and Good Bye, Dragon Life follows an ancient dragon reborn as a human. These stories are full of adventure and humour, and they make easy, bingeable companions for a long weekend.
A growing watchlist
1XAnime grows with every season. New series and new seasons join the New collection as they arrive, new dubs appear on the services as they are released, and the numbered Popular list in the sidebar changes with what fans are watching. Come back whenever a new season begins, check the badges on the cards, and let 1XAnime help you find where to watch it.
If you are new to anime, this is a wonderful time to begin. Almost every famous series is available on official services, many with Indian-language audio, and new stories arrive every season. Start with one title from the Kids classics, one from the shonen sagas and one film, and you will soon discover which kind of anime you love most. From there, the collections, the badges and the numbered Popular list will guide you to the next favourite, one episode at a time.
